Frequently Asked Questions
How is the training structured?
The training is divided into sections with each section teaching one of the four components of reading with a focus on teaching adults.
Why is the focus on adults students at levels 4-8?
Our research shows that this is the group where persistence is most problematic. To address this issue, we developed a highly-focused training for teachers to hone in on those skills these students need to reach their educational goals.
Who should take the training?
The training is designed for educators with some teaching experience but have little or no experience in teaching adults. Teachers with adult education experience can use the training as a review and refresher.
Does the training require a lot of experience in using technology?
No. Anyone that can use the basic features of a smartphone, tablet, or computer can easily log in and work through the training.
Are there any additional materials that must be purchased?
No. All of the instruction is delivered online. Any required materials are part of the course and can be downloaded at no additional charge.
Do the video demonstrations use actors?
No, all of the videos show actual teachers and students demonstrating techniques and strategies.
Can the materials be retrieved after completing the training?
Yes, teachers can access the training long after it is completed as long as they remember their username and password.
How long does the training take to complete?
The training takes, on average, 4-6 hours to complete.
